Syria denounces Israeli attack on its territory

(MENAFN) Syria has forcefully condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on its southern territory, describing the attacks as a "treacherous aggression" and a serious breach of international law.

In an official statement, the Syrian Foreign Ministry declared that the strikes represent a blatant violation of the nation’s sovereignty and contravene the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. The ministry characterized the actions as part of a continuing pattern of aggression and unwarranted interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

The timing of the attacks was described as deliberate and suspicious, intended to destabilize the country and undermine its unity during a critical period when Syria is striving to restore security and recover from years of conflict.

Syria’s Interior Ministry accused Israel of backing armed factions in the Suwayda region and carrying out air raids against military and security installations, which resulted in multiple casualties among Syrian forces.

Ongoing clashes have been reported in certain areas of Suwayda as government officials work closely with local leaders to regain control and restore order.

The Israeli airstrikes targeted locations within the Suwayda governorate and the southwestern Daraa region.
